Gert and Trent got married last August at Kauri Bay Boomrock. This incredibly kind, thoughtful couple gave the On My Hand team full creative licence. We designed and installed all the styling and florals for their romantic winter wedding, which is still one of our all-time favourites.
If you’re considering a winter wedding, we suggest take your inspiration from this loved-up couple. Their dark florals, offset by warm tones and romantic candlelight, made for the ideal winter wedding. The only brief they gave us was to use the deep plum tones of the bridesmaids’ dresses, so we also took inspiration from Gert’s incredible gown from Hera Couture – with its long train and Venetian lace silk tulle details.
We used the best florals of the winter season – orchids, black and blush roses, burgundy, copper and dark tones, with lots of green to create a super-romantic vibe. For us, creating our best work always means working with our couples to find out what’s important to them so we can include little personal touches in each couple’s florals. For Gert and Trent, this meant using daphne in Trent’s buttonhole because it reminded him of his grandmother.
We created a 2.5m suspended floral chandelier above the bridal table and a mulled wine station, using lots of candlelight to create a warm, romantic atmosphere throughout the venue. We installed garlands in the ceiling and used brass candlesticks and custom silk table runners (which we sourced from overseas in the perfect shade) and custom perspex signage for table settings.
