WEDDING | Amber + Rhys

The clean, elegant look of Amber and Rhys’ wedding reflected the modern day romance of this loved-up pair.

One of the things we loved about this wedding was all the detail. Because it was a summer wedding the venue was really lush and green. Amber and her maids’ bouquets featured deep and bright reds, blush pink and white in phalaenopsis orchids, hydrangeas and colombian roses, with very little foliage. While they may look simple, don’t be deceived – we had to shape very straight stems into those beautifully draped shapes, making them technically difficult. A lot of hidden work went into creating them!

The ceremony spot usually has wine barrels, which we disguised by building a structure with branches which made it look like a garland. We used macrocarpa, sasanqua camellias (which have beautiful dark green small leaves) for coverage and olive leaf (for their natural shape) to create a great drape. We created wee rose arrangements on end of each aisle of chairs for ceremony, as well as florals for the couple’s beautiful car. We also dried rose petals to be distributed with the ceremony programme.

For the reception, we created modern floral pieces for the bride and groom’s chairs, and the finishing touches for the tables – menus, candles, rosemary sprigs on each plate and florals for the tables. The wonderful team at Ataahua created the rest.
