EVENT | Art for kids

One of the reasons we love styling florals for events is that each event is unique, with its own aesthetic and challenges. Sometimes we get to style events which support causes we really care about – The Art For Kids fundraiser event for Tauranga Art Gallery earlier this year was one of those.

Every year thousands of school kids across the Bay of Plenty are picked up by a bus and transported to the Gallery to learn about art and the power of creativity, through both exhibitions and practical art experiences. We firmly believe in the value of the arts and arts education for our young ones, so of course we were honoured to be part of this great event.

Creating florals in an art gallery space isn’t the same as other venues, though. With set temperatures and humidity (to ensure conservation of the works in there), we also had to ensure everything we used was fully sprayed so as not to allow any extra (small, six-legged) visitors into the space. We also had to use florals which could handle being installed a few days prior to the event.

With that in mind, we used wattle, en masse. We created several different installations, which highlighted Chaos & Harmony shoes, including a large cloud of wattle, which floated above the gin bar.

It was an absolute honour to be involved in this event and to work in such an inspiring space. Thanks so much to the Tauranga Art Gallery team for having us.
